#Engage, Energize, & Educate

May 8th-May13th

Dear PVE Families,

Congratulations to our fifth graders on completing their two days of NGSS Science testing this week.

Our third, fourth, and fifth graders have RICAS Math Testing on May 15th and May 16th.  Students are welcome to bring in gum for their testing.

Mrs. Dohoney and I have been busy visiting classrooms during morning meetings to revisit behavior expectations especially with the warmer weather and the end of the school year getting closer.

Our fourth graders will have the opportunity to sign up for Safety Patrol for the 2024-2025 school year in the next few weeks. We will schedule training prior to the end of the school year.

Field Day At PVE

Everyone that will want to help with field day will need an up to date BCI and with all the field trips coming, it'll save lots of emails coming our way. Thank you!

Please go to the Smithfield Public Schools Website

https://www.smithfield-ps.org/page/school-volunteers

The link to go directly to BCI Form is:

This is the FASTEST way to get your BCI completed; your information will go directly to the Smithfield Police Department; once you receive your letter from the Smithfield PD, please forward it to Mrs. Viera so that I can update our records.

Please also read through our Parent Volunteer Handbook and fill out the questionnaire at the end of the form, thank you!

School Nurse Appreciation Day!

Wednesday, May 8th is School Nurse Appreciation Day!  Please encourage your child to make and bring in a card for Mrs. Traverse.  PVE appreciates what she does on a daily basis for our students and staff.

Pandas Attendance Matters!

The results of April’s attendance challenge are in and we have some new and some repeat winners. These classes had the best attendance for their grade level in April: Mrs. Henriksen, Mrs. David, Ms. Kibbe, Mrs. Ferreira (2-months in a row), Ms. Altieri (2 months in a row) and Mr. Firth.  Pandas’ attendance matters!

Lost-Please FIND!

Since the return from Spring Break, our Lost & Found has a collection of over 30 sweatshirts and coats.  Please encourage your child to visit our Lost & Found.  Also, please consider putting your child’s name on the inside label for identification purposes.

Bolt's Trail Adventure for April Break- Please see the information below from Tom Gruczka, the P.E. at OCR.

Dear Families,

The Challenge will continue until May 20.  To date Bolt has been found 69 times by:

28 Old County Families

11 LaPerche Families

0 Pleasant View Families

2 Principals

Of the 69 times Bolt has been found in 7 different locations, 24 families have not used those trails before.  Also, if one considers that Bolt is located between .25 to .5 miles from each trail head, making an average round trip .75 miles, that equates to just under 52 miles of hiking!

Thanks for the support,

Tom Gruczka
