#Engage, Energize, & Educate

October 18th

Dear Families,

We would like to give our Smithfield Fire Department a HUGE shout-out of appreciation. Students enjoyed meeting Sparky and seeing the fire truck in the chevron.   It was incredible to learn that our local SFD responds to 61,000 calls a year! We are so grateful for their service!

Tomorrow, we are delighted to share that 33 trunks signed up for Saturday’s Trunk or Treat with 280 trunk or treaters. We can’t wait to see the decorated trunks and costumes at this PVE PTO event! The sensory friendly hours run from 5:00-5:30 pm and general admission is from 5:30-7:00 pm.  Don’t forget to bring your peanut free candy donations.

Our Lost & Found tables will be moved outside of Door 10 on Saturday to allow families the opportunity to browse through the over 50 items it currently has.  Again, we highly recommend you label all of your children’s clothing, water bottles, and lunchboxes. We will donate all unclaimed items on November 5th.

A Message From Revive The Roots

Our school garden is ready for winter. The beds were filled with compost from RI resource recovery, we then added some natural fertilizer that will break down over the winter months. Compost and natural fertilizers feed the soil in the winter, so in spring our soil can feed our plants. We removed grubs and discussed how those little bugs are not good for the garden but great for the wild birds. Finally we topped beds with arborist mulch, a blend of both brown and green tree material that will protect the soil from erosion over the winter. We look forward to our 2025 garden season!
