#Engage, Energize,& Educate

March 21st, 2026

Dear Families,

A special thank you to our PE teacher Mrs. Alicia Marques Jordan for the thoughtful planning and leadership in organizing Respect Week and the Down Syndrome awareness assembly. These events truly reflected our school’s commitment to inclusion, kindness, and community. Students especially enjoyed the visit from our local police and fire departments during lunch—it was a meaningful and exciting experience for all. The themed spirit days brought so much energy and joy to the building, and it was wonderful to see such enthusiastic participation from both students and staff. Her efforts made the week both impactful and memorable for our entire school community.

Let’s Hear It For Our PTO

We want to thank Carly Warrener and the Fifth Grade Committee for planning an AMAZING basketball game between parents, staff, and fifth graders at SHS.  The half time show was terrific! All proceeds from the basketball game were donated to ABILITY BRIDGE. Last, a shout-out to Chris Whitten for being the MC!  We appreciate all the parents and staff who participated in this fun evening!

Teaching and Learning Night

We are looking forward to welcoming all families to our Teaching and Learning Night which will take place on Wednesday, March 25th from 5:00-7:00 pm.  Teaching and Learning Night is an opportunity to celebrate and showcase the wonderful work our students have been doing in their classrooms. Please note that this event is not intended for individual parent-teacher conferences, but rather to highlight student learning and accomplishments.

This year classroom teachers will spotlight the writing your child is doing in the classroom.  Students' art work will adorn the hallways and our annual spring concert will take place in the gymnasium.  The Book Fair will be held in the library from 5:00-6:30 pm.

Chromebooks

Students went home with their Chromebooks on Friday.  Please be sure they are returned to school on Monday, March 23rd.

A Message From SSELAC

SSELAC’s 4th Annual Color Run/Walk/Roll is Saturday, May 2 from 9 AM–12 PM at Deerfield Park (rain date Sunday, May 3). This all-abilities event invites everyone to walk, run, or roll through the park while enjoying vibrant color powder along the route.

Along the way, families can connect with local organizations and resources that support acceptance and inclusion as we celebrate an important message: every child deserves to be celebrated, and every child CAN and WILL learn.
