#Engage, Energize,& Educate
June 12th, 2026
Dear Families,
It was an exciting and memorable week at Pleasant View Elementary as we celebrated several important milestones. On Wednesday, we honored our kindergarten students during their Moving Up Ceremonies as they completed their first year of elementary school and prepared for first grade. We also celebrated our fifth graders at their Moving Up Ceremony held at the Smithfield High School auditorium, recognizing their accomplishments and wishing them success as they transition to middle school. On Thursday, we welcomed the Smithfield High School Class of 2026 back to PVES for the annual Senior Walk. Our hallways were filled with cheers, applause, and chants from students and staff as we wished the graduates good luck and congratulations. The seniors were especially delighted to be greeted by their former principal, Cathy Pleau, making the event a wonderful full-circle moment for everyone involved.
As a reminder, Chromebooks will not be going home with students over the summer. All student devices will remain at school and will be distributed again at the start of the next school year. To help students continue practicing important skills during the summer months, summer learning packets will be sent home on the last day of school. We encourage families to set aside time throughout the summer for students to complete these activities and continue reading regularly to avoid the summer slide.
A Message from Mrs. Clapprood
As we approach the end of the school year, we currently have 87 library books that have not been returned. Our fourth grade classes currently have the highest number of missing books. Notices have been sent home to families whose children have outstanding library materials. We kindly ask that all students take a few moments to check their homes, bedrooms, backpacks, and vehicles for any school library books. Returning these books helps ensure that all students have access to our library collection next year. Please note that if library books are not returned, a bill will be issued for the replacement cost of the missing items. All unpaid bills will result in your child not being able to check out books until the bill is paid.
