A big shout-out to our amazing custodial staff who have been working hard all summer—waxing floors, cleaning classrooms, and making sure Pleasant View Elementary is looking its best and ready to welcome our students!
Classroom placements are coming soon!
Grades 1–5: Classroom placements will be emailed on Monday, August 17th.
Kindergarten: Classroom placements will be emailed on Thursday, August 27th, before 6:00 p.m.
Coming Soon: PTO Shoe Drive Fundraiser! 👟
Start gathering those gently worn, used, or unwanted shoes and hold onto them! Our PTO is planning a Shoe Drive Fundraiser, and we will share more information soon.
🎒 Backpacks for Students in Need
A huge thank you to Julie Marsland, James Marsland’s grandmother, for stopping by PVES today to donate brand-new backpacks for any student in need!
Julie also generously donated Expo markers and other teacher supplies for our staff. We are so grateful for her thoughtfulness and generosity toward our PVES students and teachers. 💙

Dear Pleasant View Families,
It is hard to believe that August has arrived! We hope you and your family are enjoying the final weeks of summer.
As we begin the countdown to the start of the school year, now is a great time to start easing back into school routines. Gradually adjusting bedtimes and wake-up times, practicing morning routines, reading together each day, and encouraging your child to complete a little academic practice can help make the transition back to school much smoother.
If your child has not yet completed the summer learning activities, there is still plenty of time. You can access the Summer Learning information using the link below:

Once you receive your class placement email on August 17th, please fill out this form for each of your students attending Pleasant View this year. Then, submit it no later than Friday, August 21st, 2026. The information required for this upcoming school year is as follows:

BCI/ Volunteer
If you plan to volunteer at Pleasant View Elementary this school year, please be sure your Background Check (BCI) is current. BCIs expire one year from the date they were issued and must be renewed annually in order to volunteer at school events, field trips, book fair, field day or other school activities. In addition to a current BCI, all volunteers must complete a one-time Volunteer Training with Mrs. Viera. This training only needs to be completed once during your child's time at PVES. To schedule your volunteer training, please contact Mrs. Viera by emailing tviera@smithfield-ps.org or by calling the school office at 949-2058. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all students!
