We are Kind, We are Safe, & We Work Hard!

October 24th, 2026

Dear Families,

Thank you very much for the photos from last week’s Trunk or Treat.  It was so nice to see so many families out on a dry but chilly evening.  Another HUGE thank you for our wonderful PTO for organizing this annual event.

Kindness Club

Fourth grade Kindness Captains have been busy modeling and spreading kindness at PVES this year. One of our first Kindness Club activities is reading stories in classrooms. One of the stories the 4th grade Kindness Captains read was The Phantom Bat. The student captains led discussions with younger students about ways to be kind. They encouraged passing kindness along and left a “kindness bat” with a kindness quote for each class to put on their door.

Join Our Team!

As we begin the new year, we are seeing an increased need for substitute teachers and paraprofessionals at Pleasant View Elementary School. Unfortunately, our substitute pool has decreased for a variety of reasons, and we are hoping to connect with individuals who may be interested in helping support our school.

If you are interested in exploring either of these opportunities, please feel free to reach out to arrange a time to volunteer and shadow a substitute teacher or paraprofessional. This would provide an opportunity to learn more about the role and experience what a typical day looks like at PVES.

Recess

This week, we introduced designated recess stations to help make play safer and more organized. Stations include hula hoops, running races, building blocks, and soccer.

Attendance

Last week, our attendance ranked 34th on the state attendance board. We are currently down 1.87% compared to this time last year. When your child is well, please be sure your child arrives on time to school by arriving in the building by 8:50 a.m. Research confirms that regular, on-time attendance supports students’ success throughout their educational journey.

District Elementary Attendance

LaPerche-#6 on the state attendance board with 2.86% of students being absent

Old County#46 on the state attendance board with 7.85% of students being absent

Thank you for partnership in having your child in school on time when they are WELL.

Second Grade Spotlight in Science🧪🔎

In second grade, students are learning that maps are a kind of model. Students were provided with a variety of materials to make a model of Ada’s Park.

High Fives at PVES

Starting this Friday, we will be partnering with SHS for Hi-5 Fridays!

We begin with the varsity athletic teams, with plans to expand the opportunity to include band, chorus, the musical cast, and other student groups. Participating students will walk to PVES from approximately 8:15–8:40 a.m. and  students will be greeted at both door 1 and door 4, giving them high-fives as they arrive for the school day.

This is a wonderful way to strengthen the connection between our schools and build a sense of community across our campus.

Weather🥶

As the weather gets colder, please remember to send your child to school dressed appropriately for outdoor recess. Students go outside whenever weather conditions permit, so warm coats, hats, gloves, and appropriate footwear are important for keeping our Pandas comfortable and safe. Please label your child’s belongings to help prevent items from getting lost. Thank you for helping us ensure that all students can enjoy fresh air, movement, and time with their friends while staying warm!

🧢Lost & Found

Our  Lost & Found table continues to grow this month.  We encourage you to label all of your child’s belongings so they can be easily identified and returned to your child.  All items remaining in our Lost & Found will be donated on Monday, November 2nd.
