Due to today's weather forecast, the grade five trip to Mowry Conservation has been cancelled. Our Walking School Bus is also "off the road" today.

PVE's 4th grade book club for How to Win a Slime War is up and running for the month of June. We meet every Wednesday and Thursday for a read aloud and a quick chat about the book. It's a great opportunity for our kids to be part of a community of readers!

Congratulations to Jane Ramos who was recognized in Washington, D.C. last week as a 2021 PAEMST award winner (Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching)! This is the nation's highest honor for teachers of science and mathematics.

Save the date! The Smithfield Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force is sponsoring a "Chalk the Walk" event on Saturday, June 11th, from 10:00-1:00 at Gallagher Middle School. Come and create positive chalk messages and art!

Have a child with an IEP or a 504? Interested in learning more about the Smithfield Special Education Advisory Committee? Join us for the final meeting of the school year, Tuesday, May 10th, at 6:30 p.m. at Old County. This meeting will discuss next year's meeting dates, voting for committee Chair, Co-Chair, and Secretary. We will also discuss the direction of the committee.

Pleasant View launches our JR. SCHOLAR UKRAINE GRANT PROJECT tomorrow: Coins for Ukraine. We are excited to begin this drive. Please refer to our Facebook page for information about our school-wide Feinstein initiative. Would you consider checking cushions, pockets, and car cup holders for any loose change that may need a "new home"? Thank you for helping our Pleasant View Feinstein Junior Scholars help others!

Today's April 14th Reading Week theme is: Throw on Your PJ’s and Read! Let’s curl up with a good book! Wear your pajamas and drop everything and read. Please make sure you wear shoes or sneakers. No slippers allowed!

As a part of our Reading Week, Wednesday, April 13th, will be a Feinstein Day at Pleasant View. We are grateful for all of the ways that the Feinstein Foundation supports our school community. Staff and students are invited to wear any of the following clothing items in honor of this day: Feinstein t-shirts or sweatshirts, Panda shirts, Unified shirts or sweatshirts, shirts or sweatshirts with positive messages.

April 12th: Turn it Off and Turn it Up Tuesday Today we will enjoy Chromebook free reading. Turn that technology off and read a good old fashion book! You can turn it up by wearing neon colors. Bring in a glow stick to add to the excitement

Pleasant View will be celebrating Reading Week from April 11th - April 14th. This week will include fun activities centered around our love of reading ! April 11th: Make Time for a Good Book Monday Make time in your day for a guest reader! Teachers will have someone from our PVES faculty or staff come read to their class. This will be a great way to build our community while enjoying a good book! Teachers are free to choose who they would like to invite.
